Grants available to support parent groups
Support groups in England are being invited to apply for grants to help them actively shape disabled children's services locally.
As part of the Aiming High for Disabled Children (AHDC) programme the Department for Children, Schools and Families committed GBP5 million to support the involvement of parent carers in planning and strategically developing services which will directly affect them.
Together for Disabled Children, a partnership between Contact a Family and Serco, will be distributing the grants and provide support to ensure groups develop parent participation activities in each local authority area in England.
Applications for the grants need to demonstrate an agreement between local parent groups, relevant voluntary organisations and service providers about how parent carer participation is to be developed and how the grant will be spent.
Applications must be received by Friday, 21st November.
More information and applications forms are available from the Together for Disabled Children website or via the TDC Programme Administrator at Contact a Family, Tel: 020 7608 8700.
